The Cost Recovery Regulations 2025 set out the fees applicants pay across the Fast-track application lifecycle. They are charged by the EPA on a cost-recovery basis — actual time of EPA staff, panel members, and supporting administration.
The major cost buckets are: referral application processing, substantive application acceptance and management, expert panel time, EPA secretariat support, and post-decision compliance setup.
For a typical mid-size renewable energy or housing project, EPA cost recovery on a 9–12 month application sits in the $150k–$400k range. Complex multi-consent infrastructure projects can exceed $1m of EPA cost recovery alone.
These are separate from your specialist consultant fees and our project management fee.
